In Iso-Kraaseli, you can stay either in the pilot’s cabin at the highest point of the island, which exudes maritime history, or in the sailors sheds located right in the courtyard of the cabin. There are two sailors sheds, Styyrpuuri and Paapuuri, each of which can accommodate two people.
Luotsitupa has accommodation for a total of 8 people. Bedrooms are newly renovated building’s history and maritime atmosphere with respect. The guardhouse downstairs accommodates two people as well as the room of the eldest pilot upstairs. On the other hand, in the room of the pilot and his family can stay up to 4 people at a time.
The eldest pilot’s room
The names of the rooms are based on the history of the building and their for the previous purpose of use. The old guardhouse is the pilot station during operation there was an unobstructed view all the way to the open sea. At one time there were four pilots at each pilot station, this was also the case in Iso-Kraaseli.
The pilot elders were the only ones who had their own room. Others passed in shifts, bringing the family back with them if necessary, from where on the designation of the family room originates.
Iso-Kraaseli can be reached by boat transport from the center of Raahe From the beach of the museum or the port of Lapaluoto, the distance to the island is only a couple of hundred meters.
